How Many Private-Domain Tools Does a Company Need?
SCRM, community, livestream, membership: the more tools, the more fragmented the customer.
Private-domain operations have been hot for years, and vendors multiplied: WeCom SCRM, community management, livestream tools, membership mini programs. One retailer we know runs six at once, splitting customer data six ways.
The price of too many tools
Fragmented data: one customer with three profiles, inconsistent tags and conflicting actions.
Staff burden: sales assistants switch between apps all day and use each shallowly.
Stacked cost: every tool charges annually, overlapping features add up.
A simpler approach
Decide where master customer data lives first. One customer, one profile; other tools read and write via APIs.
Keep tools by scenario: reach (WeCom), transaction (mini program store), benefits (membership), one each.
Ask three questions when evaluating: what problem it solves, how it integrates, how data moves out if retired.
Private domain is about relationships, not tool count. Fewer tools and connected data make operations actually workable.
